It looks like both the 3000 and 4000 series now have RIO's as standard equipment. This is from the JD site regarding safety features.

Built in safety features for operator peace of mind
Safety is designed into all 3000 and 4000 Twenty Series Tractors.
Operator presence system ensures the operator is in the seat to operate the tractor
Roll-over protective structure (ROPS) is designed for operation safety
Reflective ROPS strips for better tractor visibility
Key switch interlock prevents bypass starting
Visual power take-off (PTO) warning light alerts operator when either mid or rear PTO is running
Reverse implement option (RIO) for safe mid-PTO operation*
Placing the transmission in neutral and setting the park brake allows operator to run rear PTO safely when off the tractor seat
Turn signal and flashing warning lights operate according to ASAE S279.10 standard
    Taillights for road transport
Slow moving vehicle (SMV) sign for road transport

    * 3000 TWENTY series HST tractors with serial numbers ending with 910000 (open operator station [OOS]) /940000(cab) and above have RIO.

Am I to interpret this as only the 3x20's have the RIO (not the 4x20)?

    3720 Does Have RIO

I just got a new 3720 a few days ago and it definitely has RIO. I have subscribed to this thread and will be watching it closely.

This is unfortunate especially if there is no over ride. I am willing to bet that with the computerized eHydro it cannot be changed.

Even on my Simplicity lawn tractor there is a reverse over ride switch ( or as I call it Baby Killer Mode since that's what the pictogram shows).

With a snow blower this a big deal and if there is no over ride Deere will lose a lot of sales.

Hey guys, I am not trying to be difficult here, but I am missing something in this conversation. I am in full agreement with the content that Robpm posted regarding RIO for the PTO when the operator leaves the seat. My 3720 does the same thing. What I may be missing is where the OP described a condition where his friend tries to go in reverse with the PTO engaged and has do something with the PTO button - this is the condition that doesn't make sense to me - this is not a feature from John Deere on the 3x20 series. In fact, John Deere advertises on the advantage of the forward/reverse eHydro functionality. I am either mis understanding what the OP is asking or there is something wrong with his friends 3720.

It sounds like John Deere has added this "feature" to the newest model 3X20 series.

I have a new 3320 cab on order and it should be here at the end of the month...this is something that im going to look into. ..I bypassed it on my old LA115 riding mower but it looks like Deere has caught on to how easy it was to bypass.......

It sounds like it is totally diffferent. The eHydro doesn't have a switch to tell when the reverse pedal is pressed. It "knows" because of the pedal postion sensors. Also, the OP is indicating that the RIO switch needs to be "refreshed" or cycled every so often or it "times out". This would be particularly difficult to defeat. I think we need to get ahold of the schematics and "test" procedure from the service manual. If it's like the 2011 and up 4x20's, JD never did update the service manual for the later models. I also wonder if it can be disabled by the dealer for "special applications".

JD110's expertise would be beneficial here.
