    Is used a option?

Atlantic Tractor is currently listing two X320's in their used inventory:
    1. 2006 X320 with 372 hrs for $2300
    2. 2009 X320 with 245 hrs for $1950

    Search Used Tractors-USed Balers-Used Combines-Skid Steers-Riding Mowers-Atlantic Tractor-MD-PA-DE

The only downside is that no warranty is offered on used equipment. However, I would assume a JD dealer would at least look over a mower before it is put up for sale.

    Good luck

I don't know if I would use an X320 to pull a trailer that size, even if just a short distance. The X320 is a lawn tractor and has the Tuff Torq K58 transmission, which is a K46 tranny with a charge pump. If you can't afford the X500 series, I would be looking for an used GT, like the GX3X5 series, or the GT2X5 series, or an used 4X5 series. Here is an article that might help: When is a Lawn Mower a Lawn Mower? :: John Deere TechTalk – The Source for John Deere Technical Information

    Thanks guys

yes used is an option..... I was talking to the salesmen at Atlantic Tractor about a used x300 and he said the 320 would do the job fine ( he's a salesmen)

T-MO thanks for the link now I understand a lot more about them

how would you compare the x320 to a Cub 1440

TractorData.com Cub Cadet 1440 tractor information

I have been using this tractor for 16yrs and 917hrs this should give you more insight of what I need

and yes I will think twice before I pull a big trailer with a tongue weight of 100lbs or more I think that's what killed my little cub

Yes, I have an X320, it's going on 8 summers now. I have the 48 inch deck. It's been great, excellent mowing machine, but not much else. Not heavy enough to pull a large trailer, and I would be afraid to shorten the transmission's life if I tried.

The Cub Cadet 1440 is a garden tractor, much like JD's X500 series. I would be looking for a JD 4X5 since it will be close, if not larger, than that Cub 1440. The JD X320 isn't quite as heavy as the CC 1440 and therefore it's like comparing apples and oranges. The X320 will mow circles around the 1440, but the 1440 will be more up to the heavier tasks.

THANKS A TON I think you just saved me from a $4000 mistake

I was listening to the salesman and he said it compared to the cub this is why I hate a salesman

now I have to rethink things

the x500 is 50lbs more and has 11hp more and locking diff.

I got the wife's ok to go with the x500

should I get the 54 or 48in mower deck ??

how well does the 54 work on the 500??
I was told not to use it on the 320 as the frame was to narrow and the deck would scalp the lawn is this true with the 500 as well???

I really like the idea of the 54 but want a good cut

    Super soaker,

From what I understand the larger deck is the easier it is to scalp your grass. The larger deck will not conform to uneven ground as well as a smaller deck. So if what you are mowing is really even go with the bigger deck. If you have a bunch of dips and peaks and want the best cut go with the smaller deck for a better cut.

One thing also is what you have to cut around. If you have a lot of obstacles to fit between a smaller deck will be easier to maneuver.

Bigger deck will get the job done faster, all other things being equal.
