PTO Mower Coupler - Snap Ring

    Hello all.

I have 62 D deck. I was removing my deck. When I released the coupler from the PTO shaft the couple assembly came apart. I thought I had all the parts. Nope. I think I'm just missing the snap ring. See the picture from JD site. Of course I can't just buy the snap ring (item 14). The whole assembly is $70. I looked up on McMaster-Carr site. I was wondering what everyone thought of this part? Would you think that this part would work instead of spending $70? Other suggestions? I could not find the snap ring on the floor. Thank you. jpb

If you measured correctly and get the right one, I don't see why that wouldn't be good? IOW, Go for it.

If all you're missing is the snap ring, I'd certainly buy one before replacing the whole assembly. You could order from McMaster, or pick it up local. Home Depot has a selection of snap rings, and so should most hardware stores. If you have a Fastenal in your area they should certainly have it.

Thanks, ordered one from MC. I had check with HD and other hardware stores. They only had thicker snap rings. I will see if it works and post a note. John.

Status - I did get the MC part in yesterday. It worked to retain the coupler assembly and the assemlby will fasten and lock onto the mid PTO. One issue still remains is that the coupler doesn't have a detent position any longer. I must be missing a part. Possibly that ball bearing the JD's assembly diagram shows. jpb
