    Tractors in the Sky

Why have I not noticed this thread before. I'm in trouble now.

    Love round engines.

    Airplane wish list includes:
    Fairchild 24 with 165 warner
    Stearman
Beech 18 our flight department used to have a couple.

I've seriously even considering building. A Hatz and putting a Warner on it.

And radial engines are coming back.

J3Driver - you really need to make plans to come to Red Stewart Field (40I) over Labor Day weekend. GREAT fly-in on a 4th generation family owned strip. I know in another thread you mentioned that your family ran an airfield too.

There's a Stearman to rent here and there will most likely be at least one or two at the fly-in and air show. There's also an old Beech (I'm pretty sure it's a Beech 18) that shows up too. The guy that owns/flies the Beech is missing a leg - lost it when he was T-boned while riding a motorcycle. When he flies, instead of his regular prosthetic leg, he has a home made "peg leg" which is basically a coffee can attached to his stump, a broomstick protruding from that and a little white baby shoe at the end. I asked him about it one time and he said that the baby shoe gives him a much better feel on the rudder pedals than his prosthetic.

LOTS of other classics show up as well.
