    Fertilizer and seed broadcaster size?

Any recommendations, size and brand, for a 3 pt. mount broadcaster for just over and acre?

    Thanks

Tractor Supply has their metal 3 point spreader on sale this week for $449. I've always wondered if it were too big for our 1 series tractors, but at that price it's hard to pass. The Sub-Compact one King Kutter has is usually in the $6xx range.

I ended up buying the big one like TSC sells...I believe it around 500 lb range. The smaller ones are more expensive as 636 mentioned. After I bought it, I read where the spreaders with the gate opening on the very bottom of the cones are more precise and can be adjusted for smaller seed. The opening on mine is on the side at the bottom. I've had problems with it grinding the fertilizer/lime and hardening to be like concrete. I'm not sure if its due to heat build up or if its from the design ...but its very frustrating to have a full barrel and this to happen . I've had to dump more than one full barrel to break loose the clog. If I had a chance to do it again...I'd buy the other design. I believe "everything attachments" sells the good design. They even talk of this on their video of it.
I've gotten gun shy now,and will only load the cone maybe a third full.

I use a Herd seeder that I bought several years ago at a local "farm supply" store! They can be mounted on most anything, I've used mine on my 550 Mule, 3-pt disk & now on my JD 420 garden tractor by mounting it to a 1-1/4" receiver bar on 3-pt adapter. The fan is 12V electric, the seed gate opens by a rope (I've changed mine to a push/pull lever). ~~ Lowell

I have the tractor supply model for my 1026. It works good and I only load about half way because of the grinding

I was browsing around on NorTrac 3-Pt. PTO Spreader 6-Bushel, 500-Lb. Capacity | Ag Spreaders| Northern Tool + Equipment and looking at the same design issue. The Nor-Trac model from Northern Tool looks like it has the gate opening on the very bottom like the Agrex models at Everything Attachments.

Thanks everyone....I just placed an order with EverythingAttachments.com for a AGREX X150 (330 lb) capacity. It was $566. with Free Shipping to a business address.

I'll let you know how it works once we have a chance to use.

I am in the market for a spreader myself. I automatically looked at pull behinds because I jumped to the conclusion that the 3pt ones were for larger farms and would be over kill for my 3 acres. I may have to reconsider.

Anyone have thoughts on the field/yard size to go to a 3pt vice a pull behind.
