The 2305 and 1 series machines are completely different when it comes to electrical. If I'm not mistaken, the 2305 is a Yanmar built tractor, the 1 series is JD built in Augusta GA. The 1 series has no diodes in the electrical system. In the case of the 2305, they were used to prevent back-feeding certain circuits.
Here's the electrical diagram for the cranking and starting system on a 1026R. The others are similar.

Jason, It looks to me that the glows should be on during cranking... Of course, we don't know what the computer is doing. Am I wrong? A bit rusty....

The ICC has complete control over the glow plug circuit. But let's not hijack this thread any further from the 2305 starting problems. We can discuss this in another dedicated thread if you want.

I'm chasing the same gremlins in my 2305. I've ordered a few of both the 3a (not sure which ones they actually are) and 1.5a (V4 & V7 from what I can determine) diodes to help my efforts. I'm not sure V4 is my culprit - it seems to test OK, but I'm not exactly sure how to test a 3 leg diode. I screwed up V7 removing it til I read about a good removal procedure, so it doesn't test the same as V4 and I can't use it for testing.
The funny thing I've found in my testing is the 'pull' circuit doesn't function with the tractor in neutral and the PTO off (key to start), but functions when either the tractor is in gear or the PTO switch is on (and after a few seconds shuts off) which doesn't make any sense to me. The 'hold' circuit doesn't hold the fuel solenoid plunger in either case.
Unfortunately I'm doing this without the benefit of a service manual and trying to find what I need on the 'Net.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome!
