    Question Alternative to part TY25878?

LA125 and Im not having luck finding a suitable replacement for my Strongbox TY25878 that wont keep a charge. Ive read on here that I can potentially use a motorcycle battery from Sears, but I want to be sure.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to DT!

I Google'd the p/n, found a link to www.jdparts.com then found the specs. Looks like you want a Group Size "U1", 300 CCA

Wal-Mart, Sears, Battery Warehouse, and others should have this.

These type of charging systems are designed to operate at full throttle, if you are not running full throttle, the battery will not charge propely. Also keep a eye on your water levels inside the battery.
When I was using a LT I also kept a battery maintainer on it as I needed It to start all winter & summer.
Hope some of this helps, good luck.

Sounds like you have a charging system problem or like has15 said, you may need to mow at full throttle if you're not already. If you have a regular 12 volt, plug into the wall type battery charger, use it to charge your battery and see if the battery will hold the charge, i.e. try to start it the day after it finishes charging. Your battery might be okay. A good, strong battery can hide a lawn and garden tractor charging problem for a while. If you have a DC voltmeter, you can put it across the two battery terminals while the mower is running and see what the voltage is. I'm not terribly familiar with this particular mower, but it should generally be 13 volts or more.
