My tractors in use around our garden

    Hello,

Here are some photos of my 4040 in use around our garden with my trailer loaded with tree off-cuts other garden cuttings and out in our paddock getting a tanker load of water for the garden. The orange tractor is my Chamberlain Champion 9G also towing the trailer tank carrying 2000 litres of water which has been pumped from my 6ft deep well by the windmill pump into the holding tank. This tank also supplies the stock water to a nearby trough. From these photos, it can be seen how dry it is with us at present.
Chamberlain tractors were taken over by John Deere here about 40 year's ago.
This trailer tank, although normally used for watering the garden, is also set-up for fire fighting and actually saw active duty last spring when we had a grass fire go through my back paddock (last photo). The blue lights are our local Bush Fire Brigade trucks and the orange light on the left is me on my Chamberlain helping to mop up. Photo was taken from our house about 500 yards away.
Also, see my other post in the "How's the weather at your place" thread.
    Regards,
    John

The main use for this 4040 is for towing my tilt bed trailer transporting my tractors around to our local country shows and rallys with a 50km or so radius of home. Plenty of secondary roads to keep off the main roads. The trailer can carry my 5 ton dozers and doesn't need a loading ramp. Shown here with my Case C Model on board - I was also going to load a second tractor but this was a non starter at the time.. The 4040 was also bought as hopefully an investment as I got it relatively cheap. So far it has cost me less than US$9000 including purchase price. Also, it has the M&W turbo fitted and has only done a genuine 2200 hours in total.
Have a close read of the sign in the last photo taken at our recent local rally - interesting reading!

Agreed! And I suspect things are more there than the USA

I am guessing rust on vehicles is not a problem like where I live. most rust out before they wear out.

There was some rust as this tractor spent all it's first 36 years about 2 miles from the sea and exposed to the warm sea air even parked in the old farm sheds on the sugar cane farm. There was no rust on any of the panels and main steel work which would be due to good quality paint work, how-ever, the mirror and rear work lights and some of the cab roof mounting hardware was badly rusted.

Incidentally, my Case Model C on the trailer has never been repainted and very little deep panel rust. Came from further inland and is virtually 100% complete and totally reliable and easy starting. The only work I have done to it was a good clean up with my pressure cleaner, painted with a clear anti-rust inhibitor/sealer, freeing up 3 stuck exhaust valves and a tune up.
