Found another use for the forks... Churning up the compost pile. Stick the forks in on the bottom, digging into the bottom soil just a bit, then lift straight up. Some of the material at the bottom gets pulled up, and some of the material at the top falls into the void. The bucket just tend to roll the pile and not really churn things up.
I did this from 2 sides and aerated the whole pile. It's cold here so composting is going slow, hopefully it will kick in a little more when March rolls in.
