    Question Instagram

I'm not really a social media guy. I have a facebook account, but I think I logged in a year or two ago and I pretty much send anything in my Inbox from facebook right to the trash folder. I don't have a twitter account.

Recently some guys have been sending links to some stuff on Instagram. What is it and how do I get an account? When I go to the Instagram page all I get is a login screen, with no place I can see to setup an account.

Instagram is like a scaled down facebook but only for mobile devices. I don't think you can view it from a regular computer, at least I haven't seen how. I set up Instagram and the only followers I have are my kids and wife so I can see grandkid pics and such.

So is this basically an app for a smart phone? I only ask because if I go to the Instagram website on my computer, it asks for a login and password, nothing else. I don't see how you even set up an account, and if I click on a link to view a photo someone sends me, I can't do anything until I log in. It seems like a giant pain in my backside.
