    Anti Virus Software

I need to pick one. Any input would be appreciated. Not interested in Symantec or McAfee.
    BitDefender
    Kaspersky
Webroot (This would probably be my last choice)

BTW, 10 years ago I would not have asked this question but would have been answering it.

I run a small computer service business after hours of my regular job and have for the past 10 years. I have hundreds of customers. My goal is to make sure that my customers have no issues with their computers while trying to save them the most amount of money. I do not make any money on selling software. So, I try to find the absolute best free software out there and research and test it constantly. I really recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. It is absolutely free and comes right from Microsoft. It works seamlessly with the rest of the windows operating system (doesn't block programs or networks, etc.), is easy to operate, and does not use much in the way of resources. Everyone has their favorite, this is true, but I really recommend this product and encourage you to give it a try. Did I mention it is free?

    grnmchn,
I was looking at MSE, how does it do with malware and spyware?
I ordered a new computer and when and if it gets to the house I would like have things ready. The new computer comes with McAfee for 15 months but I am DONE with McAfee and I will remove it upon arrival. I won't say money is no object but I do not want to go down the road I just went down again. I just want some thing that WILL work and not kill the computer. I have been around the industry long enough that I know cost of antivirus software is somehow not at all related to how well it works. Tell me more!

    Thanks all

It does a really good job of detecting viruses, malware and spyware and the program seems to be very careful removing them. No antivirus software is perfect but this one seems to have a lot going for it. It works seamlessly with the other components of the operating system, rather than trying to re-invent the wheel (the firewall for example.) The updates even come in through Microsoft Update. The interface is really simple and easy to use. Did I mention it is free?

I run MSE on my computer. No problems here. It was free.

Norton and McAfee will not be back on any of my machines ever again...

I always had virus problems with my PC, and then I discovered Apple products. I have been using a Mac for 6 years now and it has been trouble free.
