Pictures in quotes

This has been brought up quite a few times in various threads. I know it is a pet peeve for KennyD and dieselshadow - and I agree.

The subject - when creating a post while quoting another post, if there are images in the quoted post they show. This can be annoying if there are multiple images.

I try to edit out the quoted images when I am on my PC. But when on my iPad (most of the time now) it is a little more difficult. I have a heck of a time placing the curor where I want with my fat fingers - then some time backspacing. Forget about selecting a section of text - I just can never do it.

And with most people these days - any extra steps is a pain. People just want to hit the quote button and post.

I looked for a possible solution. In the Admin CP there is a setting that may work:

Admin CP > Settings > Options > Manage Attachment Settings > View Attached Images Inline

If that is set to "no" wouldn't the quoted images just be shown as links instead?

I just made a few tests, if (when using my iPad) I touch the picture while the keyboard is up, it automatically selects it so I had to do was hit backspace once to delete the picture. Deleting text and not the [....] brackets that are used to command the quote feature does take some getting used to for sure.

Give it a try-we'll use this thread for testing:

For me it is very difficult to get the cursor between the
and the . I know I can "unsqeeze" to zoom in to do it but that's yet another step.

OK - got it this time - thanks Bubber.

Now if everyone else will remove the pics from quotes? I highly doubt it. That's why I suggested the setting in the admin control panel.

It's just a pet peeve of a couple folks here. It does make sense especially when there are multiple images. But if you are specifically referencing an image it should show.
