Location - Add or Change Your Location

To add or edit your location so it appears in your profile and under your Avatar:

    (1) Near the top-right of any page, click "Settings." (1)

    (2) At the left-center of the Settings page, click "Edit Profile." (2)

    (3) In the "Location" box near the top of the page, add your location. (3)

    (4) Important - At the bottom of the page, click "Save Changes." (Not Shown)

This is a browser method. I can't speak for Tapatalk.

Good! Drives me nuts when people talk about something specific to where they live like the weather - and their location is either blank or says something like “US”.

Same here. But in defense of new users, the method to change one's location is somewhat obscure. This post might help them.

I would add that they need to go through their entire profile and forum settings while in there. It doesn’t take long and can completely change the forum experience and be a huge benefit for the end user.

    Or "Earth".

I TOTALLY understand wanting to maintain some level of privacy. But when someone new logs on here and says "I just got a new John Deere XXXXXXX tractor - what implements would be handy for it?" and they give no hint of where they live... Then when someone says "you need a snowblower..." they get a reply of "I live in Miami - I don't think I need a snowblower."

One of the things that KennyD mentioned a while back was to change the number of visible posts per page from the default of 10 to 40. Truly a life changer for me!

Actually, I did make the change and I like it. It's kind of nice being able to scroll through a long list of posts while I'm sipping my coffee. Makes a big difference on threads like "Good Morning".

Exactly. (I told him to do that one too. LOL) It is much nicer.

Another good one is to change your editor to the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) instead of the basic one. It shows you what your post looks like as you type it instead of having to preview it prior to posting it. A great time saver.

Wow, I need to think deeper, I thought OxPath was moving.

Completing the profile info does help. If you are concerned about your privacy you don't have to be very specific. Mine says SE WI for the location, close enough.

So it was YOU that changed my life!!

Wasn't aware of the editor, so I just made that change too....

    then...

and finally, don't forget to click on "Save" in the lower right corner...

I just made the change, so this is my first post in the WYSIWYG editor. I like it, but not sure if I'll keep it. I'm kind of used to using the HTML stuff after all these years.

Interesting! I'm used to typing in most of the emoticon code - : laugh :, : good2 :. The line above, I typed in the first one and then clicked on the emoticon for the second one. Will be interesting to see how they end up when I submit.
