    Printing Out Forum Threads?

    Does anyone do this?

In the "thread tools" at the top of each thread there is an option to "Show Printable Version" of the thread. A user has commented to me that if you print from that displayed page, the font is tiny and hard to read.

I don't know of any way to tinker with this. There don't seem to be any site settings to change that would affect the font sizes.

Does anyone print out threads and have any tips on how to play with this? Can a user just tweak their browser magnification/zoom settings and have that change the printed font size? Any ideas from the gurus out there?

    Any/all help appreciated!

Usually, you can make a picture bigger by holding your CTRL button down and scrolling your mouse wheel up or down (making it smaller or bigger).
Im too new to these forums to find the option you are talking about but, that usually does the trick for viewing.

My way works for Mozilla and Google Chrome. Hope that helps you.

    Jim,

I've attached an example of what I see when I select the printable option from the thread tools menu. Looks OK to me.

Did you try printing that? It doesn't look bad when looking at it on my laptop screen but if I print it, I need a magnifying glass to read it.

I've never used this function before, but out of curiosity I just printed this thread off. Looks fine to me, as mentioned I simply right clicked and adjusted the size in my printer.

I just did and the print is indeed fairly tiny.

When you go to print and your settings popup comes up, try printing in "Landscape" as it will shorten the amount of text on the page and may help the sizing.

Note, this will cause more pages to be required to print in a thread.

None of the above suggestions work . . . I've tried them all . . . is there a Web Master who can activate some feature on the software to allow for normal sized printing . . . font 10 or 12 in size?

On the Civil War Forum I Moderate threads and post can be printed out so the text is readable . . . Web Master can get it fixed and it would be a great asset to this web site . . . hope no one is offended by my comments.

Geez, I'm an old guy with weak eyes and I want to store all the terrific information I'm finding of GTT in a 3 ring binder . . . that's what retired school teachers do!!
