I'm not sure what the "limit" is for signatures, or if there is one.

There are character limits in place. We also have a few rules regarding signatures. Please check the link in my signature to see the details.

I was bored one day and jacked up my signature.

Looked cool in the preview but kicked back an error saying I exceeded 1000 something or another.
I think straight text would be "lots" but I was switching colors and bold on and off and that added a bunch of code.

Huge flashy signatures are very distracting to me. Just a couple facts are good enough.

Precisely the reason I always disable signature viewing on discussion forums like this one.

Forgot about that option - thanks!

However sometimes it is helpful when reading a post when someone is talking about their tractor without enough details. One can quickly look in the sig line to see what tractor they have - if they even list it.......

So many times you have to ask what tractor they are talking about.

I agree, sometimes the signature block is helpful or interesting, but increasingly often they get elaborate to the point of distraction. Adding video, even GIFs, would fall into that category. The occasional overly-eaborate signatures don't bother me anymore since I've disabled them.
