Logged in Vs Logged out confusion

I've been having a problem when typing long replies.

Once I finish the reply say 5 minutes of thinking, posting pics, and typing I hit the submit button. However the system comes back and tells me I not logged in. So I go back to the Home page and that page shows me as logged in. If I go to other pages they show me as logged out.

    I'm confused.

Have you checked the "remember me" box next to the username and password boxes during your login?

    No, but

    why would that change anything.

I can spend a hour on the sight reading all over the forum and even hitting links that take me to other sites and when I return to the post I'm still logged in. Only when I reply in a thread and take time to write the replay does the system log me off so I can't submit the reply. It works fine if I only take a minute or so to reply. It's like there is a time limit on entering reply.

It sounds like a sessions cookie issue. You should be able to log in and make a post without using the keep me logged in field. On some computers I don't use the keep me logged in button due to multiple users.

I do what diesel said. since no one else uses my computer I never have to log out except if I will be gone for a long period of time. If it doesn't work you might need to clear all your browser cookies and cache, and see if that helps.

If the server doesn't see activity for a period of time, it automatically assumes you've left. If you constantly are clicking on new pages, that's new activity. Staying on the same page typing a post requires no new information from the server. So in essence you are dormant. The server assumes you've "left the building" if you take a long time to type a post. Clicking on "remember me" takes that out of a good portion of that equation.

    OK

If I'm going to have a long reply I'll hit the remember me button.

Or the programmer could extend the time for us "old/slow" folks. I used to type 65 words a minute back when I was working but now being retired and only having the internet to type for I've lost that speed.

Oh and the thought process has slowed also so thinking up what to type has also slowed.

You can also open up Word or Note Pad and type your novels then when completed just cut and past it in the reply box. I have done this on occasion, helps to word smith it as well.

    Hey guys

I bumped the session cookies up for you. You may need to clear your cookies in order for your browser to pick up the new ones.

Let us know if you need anything else.
