    Site Supporter

I recently discovered a renewal reminder as a GTT Site Supporter in my junk e-mail. I don't remember how long I was a Site Supporter, but I was happy to make a donation when Kenny ran the site.

When I looked at the Donation page this morning, it says to "Please PM Kevin for more information." Huh? Kevin sold GTT to VerticleScope in 2015 and it appears he hasn't been active on the site since June, 2016. Do I bother him with a PM?

So before I renew as a Site Supporter, I have to ask a few questions:

Where do donations go now that a corporation owns GTT?

What benefit is there to a member who makes a donation?

Do the site administrators get a raise if I make a donation?

If the only benefit to being a Site Supporter is removal of ads, I'll have to decline making a donation. The ads don't bother me and I have found them useful in a couple instances.

However, if a donation is important to the continuing success of GTT, I'll gladly show my support.

    Any thoughts on this?

I continue as a site supporter because I know the moderators receive a large percentage of the donations. They are a tremendous help in keeping everyone in line and continuing the site.

Actually, I don't have enough time to spend on here as I would like, so it seems to me that not having to wade through the ads is a help. None of the ads bother me, it is just a time deal with me.

I will be interested to see the other replies.

The only compensation the staff gets here is making great friends.

I thought it would be fun to start the new year off by pulling your leg.

I really need to stay off of dieselshadow's Gizmo list.

"Donations" is the wrong term for that page now. When the site was just being run by it's founders that would do, but now that there is a corporation behind the site (ie. VS), the label of subscription is used. Removal of ads is the major benefit of the paid subscription, though you also get a larger inbox for PM's. 1000 compared to 100.

All that said, looks like we need to update that page with the more relevant info. Sending in a ticket.

    Thank you Kevin.

Would you be the former TexKev? You don't need to answer, as it's really none of my business. I was just surprised to see a post from a "Kevin" after mentioning that "Kevin" hasn't been around for a while.
