    Gator 825 vs Polaris 900 vs can an

    Ok guys
    I have a 2012 825i gator I bought brand new has maybe 3000 miles 250 hrs getting the itch for a new utv with power steering
    So looking at a new Deere Polaris 900 xp or a can am defender
    My pros and cons
    Deere- bed is longer instead of wider and it a DEERE! And 0%
    Cons- lots of motor noise, leg room and lots of dust comes in the back
    Polaris- leg room good machine lots of accessories seems quieter
    Cons- bed is wider than longer (sprayer will hang back)
    Can-am- proven brp company 3 yr warranty
    Cons have never been around one

    Tough call for sure but I tend to agree with jd.rasentrac.

    The thing that turned me off with Polaris is the live rear axle. Not sure if Polaris still does this or not.
    Never looked into a Can-Am.

    I too have an itch to get an utv. Which machine is best for you really depends on how / where you will be using it. I would be running it on the trails of northern wi and the up. These " trails" are mainly on forest roads and abandoned rr grades . So, while I don't want a pure sport utv , I do want a fairly sporty/fast machine. Cat's Prowler 1000 xt, Yamaha's Wolverine and Deere's 860 are on my short list. I'm leaning heavily towards the Artic Cat Prowler because it has the largest engine of the 3, and there is a dealer 5 miles from my cottage that is open on weekends.

    The Polaris General and Can Am Commander look like nice machines. However , these machines are assembled in Mexico This is a big turn off for me .

    You know. I'm a 550 Enthusiast - if you're looking for an "i", test the 590. The 5-class gators have an enormous leg room and I never had probs on bad streets. With 4wd and locked rear axle you can drive everywhere!

    I don't have any direct experience, but I am observant. Take it for what it's worth.
    Dust will come into the back of any of them.
    I belong to a great Honda forum, where numerous members have Can Am machines. They love them, when they run right. They are expensive to fix, and all of the members highly suggest getting an extended warranty. That would be enough info for me to steer towards something else.

    The issue I have with the 550 is it only goes 45ish mph. The 860 is governed at 60 mph which is more to my liking . From what I understand the 1000 class machines like the Polaris General are capable of going 70 + mph . Now I don't see myself going over 60mph much. But, I'd like be able go 50 -60 on the roads just like I do with my pickup .
