    Gators, man they hold their value.

    So the mrs really would like to have a gator. We’ve been looking at used ones off and on but man do they ever hold their value.

    Missed out on this one. Was a steel.

    2009 Tx for 2000.



    Part of me thinks we ought to just go buy a new one. The other cheaper part of me though says keep looking and you’ll find another deal.

    It’s from the early nineties. Not sure if it’s worth that or not. Some of the plastic looks like it needs help. And seats.

    Keep looking, have cash handy. There are deals out there. I bought an 07 HPX for about 4K under what they were going for. I bought it from a dealer. It had 700 hrs and power dump. It's a good sized machine and Sweetheart didn't like driving it.

    I found an 04 CS for her with 150 hours. Some say I stole it. I gave the guy what he was asking. I called him, grabbed the trailer and got there before it was gone. It was cheap enough that I gathered all the cash the wife and kids had and I was good.

    Gator

    I tried for a few years to buy a Gator at auction. Even in rough condition, and even in non-running condition, it is amazing what they bring. Finally went to a golf course auction last fall and bought a club car and put a cargo box on back. It will do probably 80% of what is often done with a Gator, carrying small loads, running from here to there and acting as a mobile work platform. I love being able to throw some tools or chainsaw in the back and go to where the work is needed. It won't pull heavy loads, and traction in mud or snow is marginal at best, even if one upgraded to more aggressive tires. For that 20%, the Gator/Mule/Ranger are just hard to beat. But, the value to price ratio makes that 20% pricey. If you really need the 20%, but all means, pay up.
    As an aside, I have a cabin on a lake on an old gravel pit and I see people putting surprisingly young children behind the wheel of some very powerful UTV's or side by sides. With a golf cart at 8hp, or a turf Gator at 11hp, they can only get in so much trouble. But at 50-70HP, let along a Razr at 140 turbocharged HP, yikes. A few weeks ago we nearly had some kids of a guest drive off of a cement foundation which wouldn't have been pretty. Yes, I know that I was on a Farmall B at the ripe old age of 5. And it was 16HP. It just seems that we are in a time where if some if good, more is better. Personally, I like the appropriately sized tool for the job.
    As for Gators, a classics example of supply and demand. High demand for a modest supply of clean used Gators and wallah, high prices. It is so easy to buy a used piece of equipment that needs a lot and end up over-invested. I don't need another project so, be willing to pay more for good condition. Good Luck!

    Know what you mean. We did the golf cart thing for several years and kept looking for a used one. Finally gave up and went new as everyone we looked that was close to my likeness was close to new cost.

    It had 1000 hours on it when we got it, paint wasn't worn off the skid plates, new tires, 1600+ hours now! It didn't have the power lift, I added it later, along with beefing up the canopy frame. It replaced a 14 year old 550 Mule I had bought new. Very happy with it, I'm partial to the traditional Gators!

    Do any of you know what the CX gators sold for?

    Wife found one with 660 hours. For 4850. Seems awfully steep to me. Any ideas on what I should offer.

    I’d really like to find a tx or th 6x4

    To bad your not In My neck of the woods Got a dealer who has Low hrs used at very Good Prices. Most of them are used either In Deere Factories or some type of Deere show I got a 2WD TX Came with electric Bed Lift, Horn, Front Bumper and Brush Guard spray on bed liner & Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit and a Outlet It Had 100 Hrs On it. It was a 2016 In 2016 when we Bought it. I added the adjustable seat and side storage Box it was close to $7,000 used New it would have Been over $10,000

    I wanted a Gator too, but prices were too high for me to justify it, so I found an electric golf cart at an auction that was close enough to me to drive it home. $660 plus 10% buyers premium. 36V with all new 6 volt batteries that cost what I paid for it. Plus new foam filled flat proof tires. It already had a makeshift cargo box on the rear that works fine for me. In fact I used it today to do some work on the back part of the property, including a couple of trips back to the house for more tools.

    Around here, half the craigslist ads for gators are scams.
    The legit ones make you want to spend a few more grand and get financing for the prices they ask.
    I'm looking now for one. May just go talk to my dealer.
