    4x2 transaxle problem

    Hi Guys. I am new to this. I have bought a 2001 4x2 gator having issues with the trans axle. want to fix it but can't ID what model the transaxle is. can anyone help. Thanks Mark

    There's only one transmission/ axle assembly that was used in the 4X2. What kind of problem are you having?

    It is popping out of gear in both forward and revers. You can hold it in gear though.

    You'll need to replace item #3,4,5 & 8 with AM881314 Gear Kit The kit sells between $400 - $500.
    Do an on-line search for AM881314 Gear Kit.

    Mark, I had that exact problem on my 2001 4x2. First, disconnect the shift lever linkage from the arm on top of the transmission and see if you can shift it correctly that way. Odds are you can't, but ensure you don't just have a linkage problem first. In my case, part number 4 was worn.

    I did a thread on the teardown and repair, you can read through it and see the photos here. If you run into anything or have any questions just ask.
