    gator 4x4 hpx diesel 2006 tire/rim question

Bought 2006 gator 4x4 hpx diesel and tires need replacement soon. Front is AT489 24x9.5-10 Rear AT489 24x11.5-10 (one is 24x12.00-10).
Book states Front 22.5x10.00-8 Rear 25x12.00-9.
Why does book say F is 8" and R is 9" rims?
Does new hpx ship with 10" rims F and R?
Any info is appreciated concerning rim/tire setup.

    Bob,

I can't answer your question specifically, but like ATV's I imagine that rims and tires get changed to aftermarket stuff on UTV's as well.

Noticed your location. Welcome from the other side of the state.

I spent a summer in Athens while I was working on the Wacker project just south of there. Very nice town.

Bob, I believe 8 and 9 are the rim widths. You can fit a slightly wider tire on a rim than it calls for, might even have come from the factory that way.

If the numbers the op posted are as printed on the tire the 10 is the rim diameter

    Tires are marked
Overall diameter x tread width x rim diameter

Thats what I thought--24x9.50-10 means 24" tire diameter 9.5" tire width and 10" rim diameter.
Just wonder why factory specs call for 8" rim diameter on front and 9" on rear. Not that it matters-I'm keeping 10" rims and probably ordering carlisle AT489's like previous owner.
Thanks for replies. Like the gator, have 20 acres or untouched woods that need attention.
