Exclamation John Deere Square Baler 456 model 1985 does it take alfa alfa from a concrete street

I am planning to buy a used John Deere Square Baler 456 model 1985

1- Does it make alfa alfa bale
2- After cutting alfa alfa we put it on a hard ground (like concrete) does it take the alfa alfa from the hard ground - or it has to be on a sand ground?
3- What is the dimension of the bale

4- How can I check it's condition, I have no idea what to check.

    Thanks

    Saljas,
    1) It will bale whatever you put in it.
    2) The pickup can be adjusted for very short grass. Never tried to pickup off of concrete. You will probably leave some leaves on the ground.
    3) The 456 has a 4 foot wide chamber and can go up to 5 feet in diameter.
    4) A round baler has lots of moving parts. Check for wear on the chains and sprockets, Check for bearing wear on the rolls. Look at the wear indicators on the belts. Belts are very expensive. It would be best to have it looked at by someone with a little experience. The baler should be fairly quiet when it's running. If you hear a lot of squealing and tapping, I would pass. Good luck.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

John Deere Square Baler 456A square baler

    Dear Kevin,
    Many thanks for your reply,
Regarding the third point, it is a John Deere Square Baler 456A not a round one.
Is it a fixed length and width or it can be adjusted?
    Regards
    Saljas

Length can be adjusted but width cannot.
