    Outside links and advertising

Lately we've had a few questions about links to other sites, and what constitutes advertising. Hopefully this will help clear up any confusion.

GTT members are welcome to post links to other sites, products, Internet ads, etc so long as it is relevant to the discussion and the linked site does not violate GTT rules. If you found a machine or implement for sale and want to discuss it with GTT, there's no problem at all posting a link to it. If the site has a blatant GTT rule violation like a someone standing beside the tractor/ implement nude, that's a different story. The same goes for discussions on other sites, if it's relevant to the discussion here on GTT there's no problem linking to it. This was written with the idea of a craigslist ad or auction link, but applies also to products or services provided by non- sponsor companies. Members are welcome to discuss and provide links to those items so long as it is relevant to the discussion on GTT.

Businesses are a different story. Any business, or representative of a business that wishes to promote their product or service on GTT must be a GTT site sponsor/ approved vendor. Our vendors quite literally provide the funds that keep GTT operating and available for all of us to enjoy, so it's very unfair to them for a non supporting company to come here and promote their own products. This includes but is not limited to having the name of a business as a GTT username, and/ or promoting their product or services in discussion threads.

These are general guidelines, if there are any issues they will be handled on a case by case basis. Hopefully this will clarify things a bit, but if there are any other questions feel free to ask.

Green Tractor Talk rules, polices, and terms of use link provided in my signature. It basically says exactly what Blake just said. If you've never read them, it would be good to check it out. They are pretty easy and follow common sense.

If the said person was reasonably attractive, I wouldn't mind as long as she's a she. If it's a guy, I'll look at the tractor. . .

This is just a reminder, all members wishing to post as a representative of a business need to be site sponsors.

Anyone wishing to become an authorized vendor can contact myself or any other staff member to be put in touch with the folks at VS, the people who own GTT.
