    I'm Building A House.

Just finished clearing about an acre of big timber for our new home on a 5 acre lot. Thought I would document our progress here with photos. I will be using the timbers and wood required for the home, from what I get off the lot. House requires some posts and beams which I am having cut from all the Cherry , oak, and Poplar. I won't need wood for about a year, and I'm drying a lot of it in a green house. Here are some photos. Of 2 months of work so far.

Thats amazing. Looking forward to future pics. How much dry time is required for the wood? Just the year?

Building it yourself or having it built using some of your wood?

The 1" boards will only take a couple months in a greenhouse with proper ventilation. The heavy timbers ate going in a kiln.

It's a complicated build and i have a job, so I am using a general contractor for the build. I will be doing all the dozer work and the flooring.

So it sounds like you will be the GC over the GC. Good way to do it, best of both worlds.
