3720 Hydraulic option review before I buy

3720 Hydraulic option review before I buy, please help or please stop me…

    Gents,
I’m looking to buy a new 3720 with the listed hydraulic options. I plan to run a grapple on the FEL, a 3PH log splitter, a 3PH stump grinder, and a box blade on the tip and tilt. Will the options I have listed do the job?

    Questions:
Is the JD tip and tilt worth it or should I buy after market?
What are the brackets for on the JD tip and tilt (drawing reference tip and tilt kit 1 and 3)?
Is my “John Deere 3720 Simplified Hydraulic Drawing” correct?
Where is the tip and tilt usually connected?
How is the tip and tilt usually controlled?
Does the tip and tilt plug into the rear mounted couplers as shown?
Where is the selector switch mounted for the diverter valve?
From where to where do the FEL 3rd function hydraulic hoses run?
Where do the FEL third function hydraulic hoses connect into?
Are the couplers for the third SCV valve located as shown in the picture?
Why are 2 switches needed for the third SCV valve as shown in the pictures?

If anyone has these options on their tractor please give us your review.

7010 DUAL MID SCV Standard Equipment
9049 FEL THIRD FUNCTION HYDRAULIC HOSES Optional Equipment
LVB26030 ELECTROHYDRAULIC THIRD SCV KIT Optional Equipment
LVB25505 POWER BEYOND KIT Optional Equipment
LVB25507 ELECTRIC DIVETER KIT Optional Equipment
LVB26160 TOP AND TILT FIELD KIT Optional Equipment

    Thanks for any input.

We have a really good reference in the technical library, the 3x20 reference table for Adding PB and EH 3rd Function.

I have been very happy with my fit rite hydraulic top hyraulic, not the tilt. I cant see how the factory can be better and its a snap to install yourself.
the switch to operate that is on the thumb of the end loader joy stick. I think you will have to add some hydraulic connections on the back like you would for a back hoe in order to add more cylinders to the system.

I was planning on using the electric diverter kit’s 2 sets of couplers at the rear to plug the top and tilt cylinders into. That way, I flip a toggle switch (not sure where that would be located) to divert the joy stick control from the FEL to the top and tilt (or stump grinder vert. and horz. cylinders if attached instead of the top and tilt). That’s my plan (read that’s what I want it to do), but will it actually work that way?

Lots of questions! I will do my best in brief/pointed replies:

    Questions:
Is the JD tip and tilt worth it or should I buy after market?
    -Aftermarket

What are the brackets for on the JD tip and tilt (drawing reference tip and tilt kit 1 and 3)?
-To hold the top link up out of the way when not hooked to a implement. Not needed if you use a iMatch QH.

Is my “John Deere 3720 Simplified Hydraulic Drawing” correct?
    -Yes, it appears to be.

Where is the tip and tilt usually connected?
-Rear remotes, but JD only offers one.

How is the tip and tilt usually controlled?
    -Rear Remotes

Does the tip and tilt plug into the rear mounted couplers as shown?
-Yes, but only one at a time if you are referring to the 3rd SCV QD's

Where is the selector switch mounted for the diverter valve?
-Not sure now since they changed things last year-used to on the RH fender.

From where to where do the FEL 3rd function hydraulic hoses run?
-From the front on the loader arm, to the middle where the other hoses connect, then hoses from there to the rear 3rd SCV

Where do the FEL third function hydraulic hoses connect into?
-Rear 3rd SCV-the kit basically just extends the rear 3rd SCV to the front-it is NOT independent or separate.

Are the couplers for the third SCV valve located as shown in the picture?
    -Yes

Why are 2 switches needed for the third SCV valve as shown in the pictures?
-Dunno, maybe one is a ON/OFF master switch?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are other ways to do this-if your willing to do it yourself. IMO the JD diverter kit is expensive, complicated, and cumbersome to use since when active you have no loader control, and when not active you have no TnT control. If it was me, I would add my own 2 or 3 spool valve to the rear of the tractor, and a diverter or 3rd function to the loader. Have you read Jason's 2720 install thread and Rob's thread on adding remotes to his 990?

    I'll take a crack at these 2...
I think the power beyond is plumbed upstream of the 3rd SCV. I actually like your drawing better.

The second switch is a "master switch" like kenny says. If you look at the online operator manual, it will explain how it works, it's NOT just a simple OFF/ON.

Also, do you have a cab? You can get actual lever operated 4th and 5th rear SCV's in addition to the diverters if you have "open station"

Here is the JD parts breakdown for the 3720, and a picture of my 4720. This option started in MY2011 for the open station only 3x20 and 4x20's

SO an open station can have the dual mid mount, an Electro hydraulic 3rd SCV with the button on the joystick, lever operated 4th and 5th SCV's, AND the dual diverter setup. That gives you a grand total of 7 functions, and of course the Power Beyond.

Cabbed units can just get the EH for the 4th and 5th SCV's the rest of the functions are the same.
Oh, and only the top valve has "float".

I'm glad there is ONE option that us "open station" guys can get that the "cab guys" can't:empathy3:
