    Yard Vac

I came across a great deal yesterday on a Craftsman Monster yard vac ($100, this never happens to me). Runs great and came with the hoses shown in the pic. My question is does anyone have experience with a pull behind yard vac and attaching it to a 1 series with a 60" 7 iron deck? I'm sure I need to buy an attachment but not sure of the best way to do it. Does John Deere make anything that I could use? I'm not real thrilled about the idea of having to drill holes in the mower deck to attach a bracket from Craftsman.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The first thing you may want to consider is air volume. A friend has a custom built bagger for his 425 Lawn tractor. His new X728 has more volume and the grass doesn't get a chance too slow down and drop, it blows out the back. now the discharge vent is larger it works great. Moral of the story. Your 1R is a grass Hog and will most likely over feed the craftsman.

Track-Vac makes a head to attach to the 60" deck, I have one, it has an 8" discharge, and there are reducers that can attach to the head to bring it to a 6" outlet. Just be aware that it's all about having enough vacuum force to clear the deck discharge to avoid jams.

The Track Vac heads are not cheap, but they are customized to specifically fit different mower decks.

Factory boots are available for the decks. they are for deeres material collection cart, but can be ordered separate. I picked up the 54" version last year for my 1 series with dr leaf vac.

I have been searching all day and came across this same part. I called my dealer and he didn't know anything about it and told me to be positive it is the correct part I need. He said he can order but no one has them and I would have to pay some type of restocking fee if it was the wrong one. I got a little gun shy so I haven't ordered it yet.

Did you need to modify the deck at all? How does it attach?

It is priced for $89 compared to $220 for a trac-vac. Although the trac-vac is nicer (metal) I would much rather save the money if this one fits.

No modification needed. It is made by Deere for their decks. It attaches with two bolts into existing holes on either side of the boot/deck.

You may or may not need an adaptor for the size of hose you have. My dr leaf vac came with two so I did not need anything extra.

Got this boot for my 62D on the 2520 last night, looks like it fits perfect!!!

Rather have this than the overpriced Trac Vac boot anyway.
