    Modified 3PT sprayer

I purchased a fimco 40 gal 3pt sprayer with a small folding boom and wand. I wanted more sprayer hose and auto recoil of the longer hose. So I welded together some scrap and mounted an air hose reel on the top. I painted the welded up assembly green. Reworked the plumbing to use the reel and added a pipe to hold the wand (the Fimco factory clips are junk).

What I didn't account for is that where I mounted the reel made it wanted to fall over toward the hitch when the sprayer was empty. I had some 10 lb sand-filled rectangular weights laying around. I bolted 2 of those under the front to counterbalance the hose reel. Nice and stable now.

It'll have to sit until May before I'll put any fluid in it and try it out.

    Nice job gittyup,

I will be looking for something like that in the near future, once I get my fruit trees planted. I assume that the pump on yours is 12 volt electric? Let us know how this works for you.

Yes, Rich, it is 12V. I will be using it behind my X739 GT, and I don't have the rear PTO on this tractor. For my needs the 12V is a better option: easier on/off and cheaper to buy. This 40 Gallon is by far the cheapest 3pt sprayer I could find (~$329) and is more than big enough for my yard needs.

If your tractor has a PTO, you might want to consider a PTO pump if your trees are very tall or if you will be a heavy user. I think this model has a max height of 25 feet. PTO pumpers can do much better and definitely more durable. But cost a few hundred dollars more and come with a bigger tank (my GT couldn't lift bigger).

    Thanks for your reply gittyup,

I will be putting in dwarf fruit trees this spring so height is not an issue. Even if I would add semi-dwarf I would keep them pruned fairly short so the electric would be sufficient. I intend to use it on my 1026R so I think this model would be a great fit. Depending on the amp draw of the pump, I may even be able to use it on the aux. 12 volt plug.

Nice modification! I bought one of these last year and it works great. I also painted it green last summer.
