    24" Planting auger

I recently picked up a Woods PHD 65. I've been installing split rail fence over the last year or so and got tired of renting (and wrestling with) my dealer woods phd.
Mine came with a 9" auger but I'd like to find a lightly used 12",18" and 24" planting bit. Does anyone have any experience with the planting bits? I've got a back hoe but the quality of the holes from the phd is so much better for fences and tree planting. I'm planning on planting 24 ever greens in the fall so I have a little time to figure it out. One thing for sure is I'm not paying list on any new bits
The 24" planting bit is over $700.

    Matt

I have only seen the used on SSL's-not on a CUT. I do see them turn up on CraigsList now and then used-have you ever tried http://www.searchtempest.com/ to broaden your CL searching?

I have a 6", 12" and a 18". I have always bought them from tractor supply in the dead of winter. The seem to really deal on implements then.

Are the bits universal? Would a Speedco auger fit my Woods?

I think most are, they have a 2" round tube that slides onto the stub of the gearbox case. The 24" bit I don't know about though.

If one did not fit, it would not be hard to make an adapter. Its just pipe.
