    Gator blade cross reference

Iím looking to replace the factory blades in my x758 with the 54HC deck (no mulch kit only powerflow). Iím looking at the Gator high lift G6 blades.

I donít know what the OEM part number is to cross reference. Any suggestions?

***tractor is in storage at the in laws, canít measure yet if thatís the only method***

You should be able to match them up using the JD part number and cross reference.

Found the OEM number I believe using the JD serial lookup. OEM blades look to be M164016. Those cross reference over to a 396-769 Gator G6 blade.

Price is surprisingly better than I expected. I've seen them listed for $30ea and as high as $90ea.

I bought mine from here. If you looked up the right part number that is the blade you need. $14.35ea sounds even better to me.

They are $13.25ea for my blade.

Damn I'll keep that in mind next time. The $10 for shipping closes the gap to other shops. I pulled the trigger a little while ago from Amazon since I can have them in 2 days for free. Tractor will be pulled out of storage this weekend so I'm stoked those will be here shortly. Now I have to learn how to ensure they're balanced.

i tried to cross my jd number over to the g6 number and i had no luck at all. probably doing something wrong-i guess. my 62c deck says i can run 2 different type of blades-neither one would work for me.
here's my numbers-M143504-STANDERD---Highlift blade is M152727--i even went to another site to try-what in the world am i doing wrong-thanks

i have been using a plain ole 8 or 10 penny nail, clamped in a vise at the work bench, after i polish both sides-i just hang the blade up onto the center hole--if it hangs a hair to either side-i then polish on that side-and recheck.

i never balanced my blades ever before i was on here. never wore any spindles out of either 3 tractor mower decks i've had since 1978. so i must of done something right, probably by mistake -oh. i dearly want to try a set of these gator blades for this summer.

I used that standard part number on Oregon's website and came up with this.

    https://www.oregonproducts.com/en/se...deere__M143504

This should be your G6 blade.

    https://www.oregonproducts.com/en/Ga...8%22/p/396-771

Here it is at Forest Depot. Keep in mind they charge a flat rate of $10 now for shipping from what someone else mentioned. Still might be the cheapest option if you order a couple sets. I like to have at least 2 sets so I can swap them out and sharpen as I have time.

    https://forestdepot.com/396-771-blad...search=396-771

I was turned to the G6 blade from a different website that is focused on people that mainly do commercial mowing. I have used Gators for a while with the X585 but not the G6 variety. Though I don't know if they are available in all the decks since the commercial focus. Even on my commercial mower, comparing them to the OEM blades they are wider, thicker and beefier than what John Deere shipped with my mower.

Thanks Big Jim I'l have to give that a try for balancing. I'll look into what to polish with as well.

    Sennister,
I too used the oregon cross reference tool, figured if anyone has it accurate it better be the manufacturer. I rather use the commercial blade that's had successfully reviews by guys that use them for hours on end each day. If it works for them it'll certainly work for me.

Yeah, their website doesn't always work with the OEM cross reference but it depends. I tried to find a blade for someone with a 42" deck on a X3xx machine but couldn't find a match but I also don't know if I was using his normal blade PN either since he didn't post it. They also have a blade finder based on hole size/shape and length measurements but if you can find it by part number search I just went that way and was fine.

I know when they came in and I compared them to the JD High Lift blade that came with my ZTrak I was surprised at the difference. One thing to note is the offset from where it mounts to the spindle how the blade steps down to the cutting edge may be a little different. I have three different types of blades. The High Lift that it came with, the Gator G6 and the John Deere version of G6 which they call Predator2. They are all a little different in dimensions. This may impact your height of cut a bit. I don't recall which had more or less of an offset and being we just got another 4" of snow overnight, I think it will be a while before I dig my Z out of storage. I did get to plow again today...
