Broken Tarter tiller PTO shield chain attachments

I worked with my new Countyline/Tarter tiller today and it worked great. But once I put it away I saw that both of the PTO shields had their chain attachments broken off so now the shields spin with the PTO.

I will contact Tarter on Monday but was just wondering if there is a different way to attach the chains to the shields? Or just a better aftermarket shield?

    What exactly broke?

Some of the Weasler shields have clips that can be replaced independent of anything else. Some of the Eurocardan shields have the clip hook into the bearings, so you'd just need a new bearing (which is like $6).

Same way I fixed mine, wouldn't be worth it IMO to contact a manufacturer for that.
