    1025R Bagger

Hello folks! Days, months, and years go by far too quickly. I have been away for quite a while. Finally checked back in to forum today. Great to see GTT still going strong as ever!

I'd like to run this past the brain trust! I have a 2001 Wheel Horse 520xi with a Vac-Bagger system (last year before Toro ruined the Wheel Horse brand). I have been using this tractor since new and loving it, and continue to use it when bagging is needed...very high grass, spring lawn clean-up, and picking up fall leaves. Unfortunately the black plastic housing for the impeller is falling apart and the impeller is now contacting the inside of and tearing the housing apart. Getting parts for repair are non-existent.

So, I'm noodling on getting a bagger system for my 1025R with a 54" AutoConnect deck. I checked a while ago on the Deere bagger system...don't remember price, just that it was stupid expensive.

Has anyone found a non-OEM bagger system that works well with the 1025R, and I don't need to mortgage my house? I am not interested in a "towed trailer type" system, but one that is so to speak "one-with-the-tractor" type.

    Any help appreciated.
    Mike

Protero Inc makes one similar to how the JD system works but as well is not cheap.
There is one (JD Bagger system) for a 1025 for sale on the swap meet section of this forum for a very good price but is a ways from PA.

The John Deere (Superior Tech) MCS 20 is about as slick as you can get when it comes to an integrated bagging system for the 102x series tractors. It's probably as slick as anything out there for any mower for that matter.

The system attaches to the Quick Hitch in seconds, electric (never leave your seat) dump mechanism, and works with the OEM Powerflow deck attachment. It is not the cheapest, but I can attach my drive over deck and the MCS 20 and be ready to mow in 3-4 minutes...

I save a considerable amount of time with the electric dump process vs. the Cyclone rake I used for years. The Cyclone rake is a fantastic solution that works very well, but takes much longer to empty.

I contacted my local dealer (same dealer I bought my tractor from), and he gave me the best price of three dealers I contacted...$2000 without install/tax for the John Deere 14 bushel 3-bag system. $150 to install.

But before I pull the trigger, I have not been able to find any videos on putting the bagger system on and off once initial installation is complete. Does anyone have this bagger on their 102x? Would you be able to provide me some insight on the ease/difficulty/extensiveness of "putting on/taking off" and time entailed. Video would be great, but I may be asking too much.

Oh yeah, what are the thoughts out there on the $2000 price tag???? And are you happy with it's performance???

    Your feedback greatly appreciated!

For $1000 more you get a stainless steel unit, push button dump, and quick hitch attachment...

    1025R Bagger

I can answer partly I guess on the setup. My tractor came with the mulch kit installed and the bagger in boxes. The hopper is one piece and can be a pain if you have to handle it often. The worst part is the bracket that carries the hopper. There is a replacement hitch plate for the 1025r, should come with the bagger, that bolts in place of the standard one. The bracket the hopper mounts on bolts to this hitch plate with very large bolts. You then connect the top link for the 3pt to the mount on the top of the bracket. You then have to mount the hopper to the bracket. Adding the bags is easy, but you have to remove the lower 3pt arms or they hit the bags.

I spent the extra money and bought the Jamison Bryce setup. Imatch adapter bracket that drops onto the Imatch. Whole bagger drops on. I also got the cart to hold it all when not on tractor. Slick setup.

The MCS20 and the electric dump would be great but I need to dump on a trailer at times.

I like the 14 bushel bagger. Even with the adapter it rides much closer than any trailer setup. I think I paid 2300 for the bagger and all attaching parts when I bought my 1025r four years ago. The Jamison Bryce cart and adapter was an extra $700 I believe. I like not having an extra engine to maintain with the John Deere setup.

    Just my two cents...

I went with the MCS20, as well. I have no regrets. It works great. Here is a link to a video my dealer made of connecting it. Easy-peezy

I paid $3098.52 out the door for the MCS20 on a pallet. I did my own install/setup.
