DIfferences in Mower Blade Types - Recommendations for 84" Grooming Mower

Can anyone briefly explain the difference in the types of mower blades. I did attempt to research but could not find any comparisons, only personal preferences. I am running a Frontier GM2084 - 84" Grooming mower with a JD 4066R tractor. I have around 5 acres that will be routinely mowed. I want to buy a replacement set, but my owner's manual list 5 choices:

    Standard Blade
    Mulching Blade
    High Lift Blade
    Flat Blade
    Gator Blades

Thanks in advance for any information/suggestions!

The only thing that I can tell you is that mower blades MUST be replace as a set. If you have one damaged blade, lets say out of a three blade system, you must replace all three at once. Quality blades are paired & matched for their weight & balance at the point of manufacture.
A blade that is damaged or not in common with the other blades can cause severe vibration, spindle & bearing damage & possibly shatter due to the forces exerted. As far as brands go I can't advise you except keep quality in mind. If you buy a set from the Joe Blo from Idaho blade company...you get what you bargained for.

I have the Frontier 3060 and mine doesn't give all those choices , But I bought extra blades and just told the dealer to get me the same thing that came stock on it . But you could try a different set out when the blades that are on it get dull just to see if there is much of a difference.
