    PTO shaft thickness mismatch

I had a rotary cutter PTO shaft that I cut for a subcompact and was too short for my new tractor, so I took it to the local machine shop. They replaced the inner shaft with a longer one. However, the inner (male) shaft is now substantially thicker steel than the outer (female) shaft.

Can that potentially cause any issues or is it good to go?

As long as the slide together with no excessive play I can’t see any issues.

    Thank you.

The only potential issue I was imagining was the heavier inner shaft somehow overpowering/warping the thinner outer shaft because of its mass, but that's probably me just being paranoid.

Where a tin foil hat while operating, that will help with your paranoia

But seriously though, you’ll have no issues.
