    Add Eyelet to 1025R 260

Well a snow Kentucky Sunday is proving productive. I'm in process of adding the eyelet or attaching lips or whatever you want to call them to my 260 hoe. Patterned off a new hoe and planning on adding the xpand thumb that is currently being produced for the 260B. The booms were identical exception the eyelet. It is made with excess metal 1/8 which I feel is a little light considering the competitors are using 3/8 or I'll use 3/8 and dress out the outer. My machine shop is cutting the pieces for smoothness. Anyway had help from another member and this should work well. Passing along as others might want to duplicate....I'll send updates as I weld on and the finished product. What you see is a paper template. The other photo is somewhat to scale photo of the eyelet on the new hoe. Anyway passing along and appreciate the post. Best Chuck

Looks good. Ive been thinking of doing the same thing.

The Bxpanded thumb kit for the 260b looks nice. At first it lookef a bit pricey at $379 but the genuine JD one is $629!!!! $400ish with shippping is a down right bargin haha.

it does appear pretty pricey...I think I'll check with my shop man and see if he can cut out the jaws. I think I can add to my unit with no problems...the receiver extension is a no brainer....

Titan has a 24" thumb for $160 and it could be modified to fit the hing pin....or may have to add a longer pin....but considering all the cost may be hard to build for the price of Xpanded...

    260 backhoe update

Had a good afternoon...temperatures warming in Ky and my machinist called. He did a great job on the libs, eyelets or whatever they are. I got them lined up and welded in place....need to do a little surface and paint work.....the 3/8 welded on great with 1/8 7014 rods on dc....wife says I always build thing like a brick shouse or a battleship....but like things to be solid....anyway saving my money now for xpanded….I'll send an update on the finished job....
