Nut choices, what would you use?

Ok so here is the question. Iím working on my sonís disk. The disks are held onto the shaft by this collar and nut.

So as I was fighting getting this thing apart I canít help but think how nice a new nut with an impact gun would have been.

So would you do a hex nut with a lock washer, a locking nut, or fight the square nut with the locking tab bent over?

You could use a modern Hex nut and still make use of a bend-up locking tab.

Hard to beat a hex nut and a jam hex nut, trust that more than even a locking hex nut.
