1025r TLB: BB, plane, rake models?

Last minute check before purchase. Thinking of getting from EA:
    54" box blade
    60" land leveler/plane
    60" landscape rake + wheels

Looked last year and these stuck in my mind. EA says sizes are ok for 1025r, but have seen posts suggesting 48" are JD recommendations. Think, but have not verified yet, that the EA ones are JD QH compatible.

Tried to check what JD offers via Frontier, but can't find a simple chart that says model x, y and z are appropriate. Think shipping/delivery from EA and JD would pretty much be a wash, so sales tax would have to be considered as well as implement cost diff. I don't have a JD dealership close by, so service isn't much of a consideration.

    Diane,

For what it is worth, I purchased a 60" Tartar from TSC and traded it for a 48" Howes. The brand doesn't matter, but the larger one was a little much for my 1025R. Some might say, to take a little less bite, but in reality, when the box blade filled up with dirt, and it of course does, I didn't have enough tractor (traction) to pull it. I was constantly having to stop, let some dirt out and then continue to rinse and repeat. With the tines at max depth, the 60" would stop me in my tracks when it filled up with dirt, which it did quickly. Filling a box blade up with dirt is the point of using one, but you need to be able to pull it.

I've been very happy with my aerator and pine needle rake from EA. They were helpful during the purchase and I really like their videos. Email them and they'll let you know about the quick hitch compatibility for your selections. I like the fact that they carry spare tines, and I ordered a few of each.

My aerator works fine with the quick hitch. The pine needle rake does not, but it's not a big deal. They also don't offer implements in JD green, so you have to be okay with that or like to paint implements.

I have the 48Ē BB and my 1025 spins when full of rocks. So Iíd feel a 54 may be a little much. Prolly ok most of the time though but I canít compare.

Wish i could help with the 60Ē rake 60Ē land plane I bought but havenít even hooked them up since I got the 2025. All are frontier. The 48Ē BB is the L version. Pretty sure the land plane is the L version also for the 1025. I can check if you want me to.

I've talked them too, and impressed with their hand-holding and availablity of parts. Just forgot to ask about QH yesterday when I called to get shipping info - I'm outside of their 1000 mi "free" range. Not thrilled that I'd have to look at Kubota orange, but they're implements, not LR furniture.

Model # would be nice. The plus for me of Frontier is that they ARE QH compatible. When I talked to a JD sales last year, he basically said "find what you want and I'll get it for you..." To be fair, he knew that I wouldn't be ordering in the immediate future.

Main reason I'm looking at the wider implements is to extend beyond tires. 90% of the planned usage of the rake & plane is for maint of existing gravel driveway. Do have some small surface rocks that I'm hoping the rake can handle. Only usage that we can think of right now for BB is adding some drainage to side of driveway where it get washed during heavy rains. Actually, only planning to get BB because it's much less expensive to get it now with the other 2 than to find we need it later.

Remember when using a rake you have to take into account of it being angled. When you set a 60Ē rake at an angle the coverage might be only 50Ē or less.

Also a rake isnít going to have half the pull as a box blade or land plane as far as drag on the machine.

I run a 5' box grader on my 1025r and a 7' landscape rake. The rake is too big but borrowed so...

Dumb me. Itís in my signature. Guess I been hanging around Gizmo to much around here.

In my opinion the 48Ē BB will be fine since you will have the LP. You will do the General work with the BB and the. Fine tune with the LP
Iím not sure your yard but I use the BB a lot. Spreading rocks & dirt. I back into and push over bushes and over grown weeds. General usage ballast. Maintain drive(I have LP now) you may still need to dig up the driveway and all with the scarfers.
In my usage I feel Iíd much rather stick with the 48Ē one. Only thing Iíd reconsider is getting the 48Ē NON L. The regular 48Ē has an extra scarfer and weigh a little more. Iíd want it mainly for the extra scarfer so I can tear stuff up faster.

All frontiers L models are supposedly made more for the 1025

Here is where I go to check everything.

    John Deere

Iíll try my best to try out the land plane and rake in the next couple of evenings if I can get home and it donít rain. I been dying to get out and play. Just been working 24/7 think Iíve had about 8 days off since a month before thanks giving. Grapple is the only thing Iíve installed and played with for a minute.
