BXpanded quick-attach adapter for 260 back hoe disappointment

So I’ve been waiting weeks to use my brand new 1025R 260 backhoe until my BXpanded order arrived. The last parts of the order arrived today, the most awaited of which was the quick-attach bucket adapter. But so far it’s turned out to be a big disappointment.

I’m not sure what’s “quick” about it. With the stock setup, you have to hammer two large pins out/in to change the bucket. Once this adapter is installed onto the back hoe, it’s supposed to take “seconds” to swap out buckets. But it seems to me is all you’re saving is having to hammer out one less pin. Even with the adapter, the bottom/rear “quick” pin still has to be hammered out/in for each swap. Not exactly “seconds to change”

I greased the quick pin but it still has to be hammered in. Trying to line up the bolt hole in the pin with the matching holes in the bucket bushing is even harder because it’s also tight.

Anyone that uses one of these have suggestions?

If I did my calculations correctly ( ) the re-positioning of the bucket further away significantly reduces the bucket digging force,,,

Dig a hole today with it, no issues I could tell.

I’m more interested in tips from folks that actually have one for how to actually make it “quick-attach”.

It will probably loosen a tad with time. The main thing is it's not messy knocking greasy pins out. Just use a small lump hammer and a brass rod so you don't damage ends of pin. I finally got mine after wanting one for a few years. Have yet to change buckets though.

I've been very happy with mine. I did not and will not grease the pin on the quick attach. Not having to deal with greasy pins and risking getting them dirty is the major contribution of the quick attach.

I found it's easier to insert the pin if you control the bucket a bit with your hand to take the tension off the connection. It is a little tricky to get the lynch pin in place because everything is really tight. I like it really tight. You will get better at this with repeated use.

When I first put the quick attach on my backhoe, I made a video of changing a tool. I was a little awkward and I wished I had rehearsed more before making the video, but I still pulled it off pretty quickly. LINK HERE

I’ve had my quick attach for almost 2 years now and use it constantly. I remove A LOT of stumps so I’m switching between a bucket and ripper tooth multiple times each time I use my backhoe. I do not/would not use any grease on the pin I remove each time, and it come out/goes back in with very minimal force. Once fully inserted I can turn it by hand to align where the lynch pin would go to hold it in place. On mine, I got rid of the lynch pin and use a small bolt and nyloc nut, since I was ripping off the lynch pin on roots.

    Hi Keane,

Thanks for the video (and the diodes!). Your quick pin certainly goes in much easier than mine at this point. The quick pin does go in easier on my BXpanded ripper & trencher bucket, so maybe I just need to clean some of the spall out of my new JD bucket mounting holes.

    Thanks for all the replies!

Keep in mind.. If it ain't tight it ain't right.

It will loosen up with use.

Quick or not, I wish they made the ripper for the 375A backhoe.

does the QA have paint in the pin hole? I would get the paint out of the holes and see if it helps at all.
