54” mmm belt came off pulley

The belt came off the drive shaft pulley on my 54” mower deck. The pulley is so close to a piece of metal that I can’t manually get it back on. I don’t know how it came off without being cut. Thepulley on the mmm drive shaft trans is right up to a metal part that I could not squeeze it thru to place back on pulley and try and finish mowing. Would appreciate any one who experienced this.

Had this happen on my 60” mmm deck at the beginning of the season. Don’t know how or why it came off. But I had to did mount deck to get belt back on. Got it back on in the tight places and worked it back around on of the side where I had more room to work. I hasn’t came back off yet again knock on wood.

Make sure to give yourself as much belt flexibility as possible by releasing the tension-er pulley which is spring loaded. Then, by getting the belt inside the outer edge of the pulley with the clearance issues, I have been able to rotate the pulley enough and work the belt into place.....not sure if that's the recommended method, but it worked.

    Hope this helps

    Happened to me, also

First mow of the year, I must have hit a stick that slipped the belt - 60" deck.

After struggling for a little while to roll it back on, I enlisted the help of my lovely bride.

I threw a cable over the top of the idler pulley, and passed both ends through the rear tires. Kathleen pulled on the cable to relieve most of the tension on the belt, and I was able to roll it on one side pulley real easy.

Sully I’ve been able to get plenty of slack on the belt. The issue is pure spacing of that pulley next to a metal part of the mmm. Can’t believe I might have unbolt mmm transmission to place belt back on pulley.

You might have too, look up an older TTWT video, he had this same thing happen. Pretty sure he had several parts off of that 54d deck.

I've had it happen also, but was able to roll it through and back on the way that SulleyBear described.

Can you use a big metal punch or maybe a dowel and mallet to push (pound it, in all reality) back through wherever? I think I understand what's going on, but pics would help my simpleton mind. If you release the tension and maybe remove a pulley can you yank it back out?

Is this the belt that runs the blades on the deck? Or a belt TO the deck? Pictures would help me too!
