Shear bolt on Frontier 72 inch cutter

I broke the shear bolt on my cutter.

In order to get at the bolt area, the vendor instructions say to fold back the protective black cone. The cone is very hard thick plastic and won't budge.

    Help!

Is it a big black drum looking thing made of plastic? If so, i would just cut it off with a reciprocating saw.

Doesn't it have access doors on the sides? Can you get to it that way?

I have post out there for the RC2048 & 2060 showing pictures of how to get the PTO shaft cover off if that'll gain you access. I'm sure the RC2072 is the same/ similar.

    Investigate....

Try a 2" hole saw to get a socket/extension down to it.

Those guards are a pita....Like they build the implement around them...No thought at getting in there to grease or change shear bolts...This is an issue on many tillers ,Rotary cutters..etc
