    Suitcase Drawbar

Seems that Titan has a very reasonable priced Tractor Drawbar with suitcase and 2" receiver along with free shipping in US.

I'm curious to know if anyone has any issues with it and how many (say) 42 lb weights can be put on it?

I know heavy hitch has one, so trying to do the comparison.

    Looking for thoughts.

    Don

I assume you are talking about this one?

Titan Tractor Drawbar with Suitcase Weight Brackets | 2 Receiver | CAT 1 3-Pt

The design looks almost the same as the Heavy Hitch. I think most people around here have the HH one. I can't say I have seen any comments on the Titan version.

    https://heavyhitch.com/product-categ...egory-1-hitch/

The one thing I have on my HH which is an option is the chain hook at the 2" receiver. That comes in handy for hooking a chain to when dragging logs and such. It is optional though. Depending on what machine you have the cart is also very nice. You can leave the weights on the bracket while on the cart and not on the machine.

Yup, those would be the ones. The HH seems to be a bit wider so I'm hoping the titan one allows for the same amount (8, 4 each side) of weights and the fit is a good snug fit.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Titan lists the suitcase bracket length as 10.5" per side. I could measure my HH later today for comparison. That would tell you if you can fit 8 weights.

I don't see that measurement on HH's website.

The Titan sure does look a bit cheaper. There isn't much to these as far as function as long as you can fit the number of weights that you want.

Yes if you could that would be great. Also, do you know how wide the actual JD suitcase weight would be. That would help me know how many would go on each side.

Dang, thanks for the quick response.

I can measure them as well. I have 6 of the OEM JD 42# weights that came with my ZTrak. Unless someone beats me to it.

    2.5" on a suitcase weight.

The angle is kind of bad in this but a little over 10.5" on each side for the bracket that the weight hangs on.

This is the gap with 4 suitcase weights on one side.

I have the titan unit and 8 genuine John Deere weights hanging off of it.

This was much more affordable for me and seems to be very well built. I’m happy with the purchase and have owned for probably almost a year.

With the cost savings you could weld on one of these to the top of the tube for the 2" receiver and hit it with some green JD paint and still come out ahead.

Or better yet, some of these...........

    Ken's Bolt on Grab Hooks

With the Heavy Hitch units starting at $249 and made in America, clearly the Titan weight bracket at $154.95 and reduced to $136 is imported, most likely from China like many of their products. There is a cost to engineer and develop products and less cost to simply replicate the work of others. I understand how people like to get a "good deal". But I also strongly believe that a race to the bottom in price doesn't create long term winners.

It's easier and cheaper to copy the successful efforts of others. Its much more difficult, expensive and time consuming to create something new.

If you take Titan's bracket at $136 and that includes their "Free Shipping", the shipping alone (from Titan's import facility in Horn Lake, Mississippi to the customer, not from China to Titan) the freight to get it to me via UPS ground is $48..........that leaves $88 in "net" from the sale of the item to cover the cost of the items build and import.........materials and labor and the cost to get it to Horn Lake, Mississippi in a cargo container. Then, you have the sales costs, and hopefully a profit, Sure can't be much meat on the bone with those numbers.......Remember, its a bad deal for everybody when nobody profits.

Interesting that Titan's "Return Warehouse" gives this address......which is a residence. They obviously have someone drop shipping their items for them as I doubt they have too many cargo containers at their address shown.............There's nothing wrong with drop shipping, as it employs others and some are better at shipping and logistics than others.

    Google Maps

On the other hand, here is where the Heavy Hitch product is made and shipped from. The place with the semi truck at the loading dock.

    Google Maps

Personally, I will pay a little more to get a good quality American product that is backed by American design, engineering and manufacturing as well as a company that can support their product. As a small business owner myself, I understand the cost of being in business and I always look at the bigger picture. Does competition make a healthy marketplace? No question. But we also have to decide what we will support and what we won't with our hard earned money. That's a decision that each of us have the privilege and responsibility to make.............

Ultimately, you get what you pay for.......or don't. I am glad that Don, the OP, is asking questions. Many simply would look at the price and jump.

Recently one of our many well regarded GTT members commented about the cost to build a couple of these weight brackets himself and he commented that he had roughly half of the cost of Heavy Hitches product just in materials to build himself a custom mount. I don't want to drag him into this matter unless he wants to comment, but I wonder what he would say about the $88 of remaining revenue after domestic shipping to the customer, and that of course leaves off the labor, the painting or powder coating of the finished part and "profit".
