    GM1072 vs GM2072R

I wanted someone to try to help me understand this. I am looking at Frontier grooming mowers. I have decided that if I get one it will be 72 inches. The numbers on these things are confusing me. Isn’t the 2072R suppose to be better than the 1072? The 1072 is over 100 pounds heavier, has a 10hp larger gearbox, and faster blade speed. But the 2072R is more expensive?

    GM1072. GM2072
    -719 pounds. -600 pounds
    -60hp gearbox. -50hp gearbox
-8 gauge deck. -8 gauge deck
-18000 blade speed. -16732 blade speed

    Am I missing something???

i have the GM1072E---i wanted rear discharge back then-as i had 3 options for grass discharge back then, so i opted for the rear discharge. so..........when it came in-i never crawled underneath it-to look. i just assumed it would blow the grass out the backside of it-right. wrong---it came with mulching blades on it-and has the ring alongside the rear of it too. now it does throw some clippings out the rear-but nothing like a side discharge. that was in 2007-so they might of changed them till now, just make sure u look them over good.
from what i've looked at in pics-the gm2072 has a rear chain defector on them. did the one u looked at have that?

oh and i paid $1700 back in 2007 for my gm1072e model. been good for as much stuff i cut with it over the yrs.

I found out the answer to this. Befco makes the gm1072e and the gm2072. Woods makes the gm1072. Geez, talk about confusing. The Woods is cheaper than the top notch Befco but has better specs all the way around.

Beautiful beaches, moderated summer heat and lake effect snows. Right where I want to be.

I think you should just go buy a new X758 and take your mind off of such matters......

It was too early in the Am when you posted that to be thinking that hard.......
