    Cutting Edge Hardware

Hello all. I bought a reversible cutting edge for my heavy duty bucket, 73". It didn't come with mounting hardware. Does anyone know the spec's on the plow bolts and nut type?

Where did you get the cutting edge?

My local dealer has a bin of plow bolts, you could carry yours down and match them up. I'd recommend nylock nuts.

Got it in a auction. I was hoping to buy the hardware from fastenal or a hardware store rather than my dealer. I've already seen the cost for the cutting edge...

If your edge is meant for standard plow bolts, you'll need to go to a dealer or ag supply store. What size holes do you have? Are they round or square? Without a model number or any identifying info for your cutting edge, it's very difficult to say what it may require.

For what it's worth, my dealer sells hardware by the pound. Plow bolts are a consumable part and aren't that expensive.

I would almost bet the farm that the bolts are standard grade 5 plow bolts, be aware they come in a clipped and oval head style that you most want to avoid. The bolts come with standard nuts, but either type will work. You'll have to do some investigation (measure side to side in the square hole) to determine your bolt size then get the length you'll need. I think mine were 1/2" by 2" (could have been 3") and I cut the excess bolt threads off flush with the nut, and it looked like this when completed.

    All the best.

It has BW14763 written in grease pen on it. I believe that is the exact JD part that I needed. I've pretty much exhausted looking on-line as this part number states hardware included. Can't find anything specific about the hardware itself.

    Bingo!

Your part number comes up as fitting the 553 loader, along with several others. I went to JD Parts and pulled up the 553 loader and found your cutting edge listed.

You want 1/2" plow bolts, in either 1 3/4" (10H1034 JD number) or 2 1/4" length (10H1236 JD number). The 1034 is $1.09 at GFP, and the 1236 is $1.80. I would suggest you try a local farm supply or dealer, they should have them in bulk.
