Tillers - Frontier RT1150 vs. County Line 48"

I'm not really in the market but can't help but check CL. If I find a deal some day that's close enough who knows. Anyway I can't figure out why the Frontier RT1150 weighs in at 323 lbs. according to JD's literature but the County Line 48" on TSC's website weighs in at 591 lbs. Other similar sized tillers seem to be in the 5 - 600 lb. range. How can the Frontier be that much lighter or is the literature incorrect.

My Hawkline built by Behlen like the TSC model is built stupid heavy duty. Thick steel everywhere and a giant gear drive case. The JD and Frontier look like they are stamped steel. Just my $.02.

Weight is your friend when it comes to tillers. Keeps the tiller in the ground.

I own a JD 550 tiller and it weighs in at about 440lbs. It is 50" wide and can dig 8" deep. The FT1150 only does 6 deep and is about 100lbs less in weight. Though it can be offset. I got my 550 for $700 and my 1025r does fine with it, so I am not complaining. I love it and does what I need it to do.
