    Shaver Post Driver Confusion

Ok, I admit I am confused. I just purchased a Shaver HD-10H used that had been used on the front of a Bobcat. Yesterday while finishing up on converting the skid steer mount to a 3-point mount I noticed 3 hoses with ends on them. All the manuals and pics only show two. One for pressure and the bigger one for return. I looked a little deeper and there seems to be some sort of hydraulic device mounted on the base plate under the control valve assembly. I am working from memory here as I don't have it in front of me at the moment. I think the odd (3rd) line (pressure) goes into this diverter manifold looking thing and one output goes to the control valve also.

It appears to be a factory installation but I could be wrong. Why would a third hose be used on a Bobcat? We know one is pressure and one a return. So, what is the third?

    Thanks for any help.

From Shaver | Standard Post Drivers website:

    "POSITIONER" HYDRAULIC EXTENSION UNIT
The optional "Positioner" lets you position the driver with pinpoint accuracy. A hydraulic swivel rotates the driver up to 155 degrees and extends 24 inches past the tire, making it much easier to position posts without the need to move the tractor. The unit is available for all Shaver drivers.

I don't think this unit swivels. I will take a close look tonight though. I only saw two cylinders on it. One to move right/left and the other to move front/back. I will let you know.

Thanks. I have read that manual front to back this morning looking for the reason for the third hose. I remember now when I was modifying the skid steer plate to be a 3-point, the base does not swivel. It is hard mounted to the framework. I guess I need to call Shaver and see if they know why. Maybe just something to do with the hydraulic operation on a Bobcat?

I could not stand it any longer. I called Shaver. The guy said the third hose is to keep the over/under pressure alarm off on a Bobcat. He said I can just get rid of the third hose on a tractor or just hook the third hose up to my other remote. It won't be used for anything. I may just take the third hose off as it will just be more stuff in the way. Problem solved.
