I purchased a 61" bucket from craig's list. It has 1 hole in back of it. It also has 2 stamped hole under it. It is a bw15863. John Deere lists this bucket with holes. What are the holes for? I did paint it.
I looked into this a while ago for another member who wanted a plate made to match those holes with hooks on it. We could not determine what the intended purpose of those was, and the idea was abandoned. I never knew about the one in the back of the bucket, no idea on that one either. Just another JD mystery...
If I were to guess, and it's just a guess, as BW15863 is a 305 loader bucket (fits any quick-tach loader). With that said I would say an anti-spill kit would mount in those holes and that is an export option only.
I called my sales guy today and while I had him on I asked him about these holes. He said that they are for shipping purposes only and only on the 305 buckets. The way they evidently configure them is to bolt them to the side so they can get a second tractor/loader on a truck. So my first guess was off and presuming this statement is correct.
Saw one today. The loader was mounted on the tractor and the bucket was bolted to the loader by the joystick. If I wasn't driving I would have snapped a picture.
