Frozen MT, "It was a dark and stormy night" revisited

My MT broke a fan belt, overheated, and froze up as listed on a previous thread. A ford friend of mine said the starter can "run up the gears" so I needed to put it in a high gear and tow it in reverse. It worked! After towing I tried the starter and she fired right up! The fan is still frozen and I'll have to fix it. Thks for the help and interest!
