    Fuel tank threads

So I replaced the sediment bowl on my MT and I cannot get it to stop leaking. It's leaking where the bowl threads into the tank. I did not put any pipe dope or treatment on the threads that go into the bottom of the tank. Should I? What would I use that can hold up to the caustic nature of gas? I am hesitant to tighten it much tighter for fear of cracking the aluminum bowl or worse yet damaging the tank.

You do need to use some pipe dope rated for gasoline. Surprisingly there is quite a selection of them. Your local auto parts store should have something appropriate.

I found some stuff at Napa. Non-hardening. Did the trick.
