    70 diesel pony engine question

Do the cylinders of each bank fire at the same time ? Or do they each fire independently. I have two coils that have spark on only one side this is with both coils .

    Welcome to GTT
I don't know the answer to your question but from the way the crankshaft is built with only 2 journals for 4 piston rods I'm guessing 2 cylinders fire at the same instant but I will do some research.

Here's some info from one of the most informed person on 2 cyl JD's I've ever had the privilege to read. There's also some more info by another well informed JD person on a thread authored by me on Yesterday's Tractor John Deere forum.

On my pony on the R with two cylinders the spark is separate.

Yes they fire at the same time.

The R pony is different because it was a 2 cylinder and the only one that Deere produced like that, all the numbered series diesels got the v-4 pony.
