I don't make a habit of writing product reviews however, I was doing some logging yesterday and was appreciating a new to me product and felt compelled to spread the good word.
I've been using chains for pulling, dragging and rescuing things for nearly forty years. I could not begin to estimate how many hundred times the grab hook or slip hook fell off while attempting to tension or retension the chain, always creating frustration and inefficiency. There are lots of slip hooks available with flimsy formed sheet metal latches with inadequate hinges that fail quickly because they are simply designed too weak and are not worthy of purchase.
About six months ago I bought a 3/8" Twist Lock Grab Hook and 3/8" Twist Lock Slip Hook and couldn't be more pleased. I have not experienced a hook fall off during tensioning and do not expect the latches to fail because they are a well thought out and innovative design that will no doubt stand up to the rigors of the task.
With enough experience you can plan for and avoid most situations where the hook will fall off during initial tensioning, the rest of the time you can count on your Twist Lock Hook.
I highly recommend them, I purchased mine from Ken's Bolt On Grab Hooks.
