    Vegetation in waste lagoon

My lagoon is two years old. Never mowed around the lagoon. I have tall brome grass outside of the lagoon. But other type of vegetation took over growing around the water of the lagoon. It is so thick and tall that I cannot see the water anymore. Is it alright to let it be or should I mowed before winter?Click image for larger version.

I'd mow it and not let it get that big anymore.
